Our Classes

Our school is currently organised into 2 classes:  

• Potter - Early Years (Nursery & Reception) and Key Stage 1 (Years 1 & 2) - Mrs Willis (with Mrs Roe on Wednesday and Friday mornings)
• Wordsworth and Wainwright - Key Stage 2 (Years 3, 4, 5 & 6) -  Mrs Pontefract, Mrs Roe and Mrs Day

Class teachers maintain their oversight of pupils and are parents' first point of contact. Although Key Stage 2 are one class, they are often split into two smaller groups for some teaching e.g. maths, spelling, so that Y3&4 (Wordsworth) and Y5&6 pupils (Wainwright) are getting the right teaching input for their age and year group.

Every pupil in the school takes part in Forest Schools or Al Fresco learning sessions, alternating between these on a fortnightly basis; these usually take place on Friday afternoons in two groups:

• Lower School - Early Years (Nursery & Reception) and Key Stage 1 (Years 1 & 2) 
• Key Stage 2 (Years 3-6) 

During each half term, there is usually a day out, e.g. to Whinlatter forest, Maryport Acquarium/Senhouse Museum or the local Mountain Rescue base.
